Dear whoever invented black pencil skirts and cardigans: thank you. It makes getting dressed for work so easy that even someone content to hang about in sweatpants for an entire week of vacation can be assured of looking passably employable again. Being able to order a new black pencil skirt exactly like one’s old black pencil skirt from The Limited without going to a mall is an extra bonus. Sometimes, life ain’t so bad.
I mean, if instead of the above, we all could just agree that paint-spattered sweat pants from the men’s department (they have pockets! and are more comfortable! I don’t know why!) are business casual, that’d be okay too… Yeah. So I’ve been thinking about skirts too much, obviously a sign that work needs to start again and I need to get out of this house.
Also, I’ve been told that Vogue in 2004 said it’s perfectly acceptable to wear brown boots with a black outfit. The more you know! I mean, I bought the brown shoes because they didn’t have them in black in my size and I was tired of looking, but hey, you didn’t need to know that.
