Sometimes I do this thing and I don’t know if anyone else does: When I’m bored, I’ll go to amazon.com and read negative reviews of books I love. Currently enjoying the very wrong opinions of people who didn’t like 2666. In re: Bolaño, I recently bought The Savage Detectives but I’ve sworn not to go near it til I’m done with Anna Karenina. She’s a cruel, annoying woman and I both don’t want to continue reading because she is loathsome and I don’t want to spend any more time with her, and I also can’t put the stupid book down because my god what other havoc and drama can these people drum up, I really want to know.
